We could hardly wait to get this appointment started. We had it all
planned out. We would go to the doctor's floor, check-in, & then
head down to the ultrasound area & get the ultrasound done while we
were waiting for the doctor.
We show up at a decent time, I think it was around 8:30ish, & head
to the doctors floor. As soon as we walk up to the receptionist &
tell her we're hear to see Dr. Pichardo, we knew something was wrong.
First thing she says is that he is out of the country. Definitely not
what we were expecting to hear. Of course, Kurt's automatically
frustrated because this isn't the first time that we've had problems.
I'm thinking this royally stinks, & there is no way we're going back
to San Pedro without seeing someone. So, she schedules us with another
doctor. As she's putting our names in the system, I start looking for my
ultrasound prescription. Can't find it. Kurt gets even more frustrated
& starts to tell me how unorganized I am & that I have major
pregnancy brain. I obviously feel terrible, but didn't know what else to
say besides sorry.
We sat down to wait for the doctor & started to go through my
folders. I couldn't find anything, & Kurt starts pulling out papers.
All of the sudden, I see Dr. Pichardo's signature. Yippee!! We found
the prescription!! Both of us were majorly relieved.

"Evening" Sickness Stops & a Visit From the In-Laws
I noticed it right away. It was Ken & Connie's last night here, & we wanted to go somewhere nice to eat. Kurt & I thought we should try this restaurant in Juan Dolio called Agape. When we got there, it was closed. The guy at the parking lot said that it had been shut down since last June. Figures!
Anyway, we decided to pick a new spot, but I didn't want to go somewhere that hadn't been recommended to us. I'm thinking, you just never know! So... we figured our best option would be to stop by Julio & Mercy's house & ask them where would be a great spot. When we get there, they had guests & wanted to talk. We sat & talked for quite a while. I could see Kurt getting nervous that I was starting to feel hungry & wanted to eat. We ended up eating late around 6:30pm, & I didn't throw up! I knew then, that the tides had changed :) It was an amazing feeling, & I could hardly believe how much different I felt. Thank the Lord for this great blessing!!
Ken & Connie were here for a week, & we had a lot of fun. The week started out a little rough for me because I was still feeling pretty sick in the evenings. I think I went to bed around 8:30pm every night. (I felt like such a party pooper.) I also started to experience some nasty headaches. I attributed them to dehydration because every time I drank more water, I'd feel so much better. I also started to get stuffed up. (Side note: Connie brought down so many maternity things, it was amazing! She brought some books that were so helpful in understanding the normalcy of all the things I was experiencing. )
Another change during their visit was that I began to expand. And I mean expand! You'd think I just ate too much because of how quickly my baby belly appeared. Maybe it was all for Connie so she could see me look more pregnant :) Who knows! It's been kind of nice though because then it feels more real. However, I can't imagine what it's going to look like at 8 months!!

14 Weeks and Counting
I figured now would be a good time to share all of my pregnancy symptoms
since they're in full swing. I feel like I'm constantly battling
sickness & can hardly wait for this period to end.
I have no energy - I'm always taking breaks in between doing anything that requires energy. I can't go from doing dishes, to making lunches, to sweeping, to something else or I make myself sick. I don't feel out of breath, I just get extremely nauseous.
"Evening" Sickness - In pregnancy books they always call the sickness morning sickness, but I always feel the worst at night. I have a hard time making supper, which I need to eat, & nothing sounds good. I'll throw up more at night than in the morning, as well.
Burping - Man oh man! It's like I'm a teenage boy. I feel like I'm constantly burping & if I don't, I'm liable to throw up. I know that when I'm able to burp, things will be okay. Otherwise, it's straight to the toilet.
Throwing up - Something I do not like to do. I started off okay, but now it's gotten worse. I keep praying that it will end soon because it is no fun!

Since we don't have family around to see the daily changes, I sent my
first pregnant picture out :) There wasn't a lot to see, but everyone
loved it!!

The Whole World Knows
We decided to share the good news of our twins on Facebook. I never realized how many friends I had :)
Second Appointment
We had originally scheduled our appointment for this coming Friday, but
figured that it would be easier if we knocked it out earlier in the
week.
Well, we got to the doctors on time & went to check in. The lady at the front desk was a fill-in & checked her roster for my name. Of course it wasn't there! Kurt was like, "No way." We drove a hour & a half to get there, there was no way we were going home without an appointment. The girl said that she was full, but we were having none of it. At first she said she'd ask the doctor when he got in, but then decided to add us anyway. We still had about an hour 15 minute wait & there wasn't really anyone behind us.
The appointment went well & fast. We don't usually have a lot of questions because we're not sure what to ask. Dr. Pichardo told us that everything looks fine & scheduled us for an ultrasound at our next appointment in February. We're both really excited to see what the babies look like! I can't image how much they've already grown. I'm not very big still, but I know it's coming :)
